In a very disturbing article published with the Telegraph, I read that according to two studies of climate change it is unlikely that global temperatures will remain below the critical level that the governments of the world deem safe. This level is about two degrees Celsius, which is the level that most policy makers believe [...]

In a new report by the American Lung Association, more than 186,000,000 people in the United States, or six in ten, live in areas with dangerous levels of air pollution. In an article published in Reuters, Paul Billings of the ALA stated that even though the Clean Air Act has been around since 1970, there [...]

According to a recent article in the Globe and Mail, inaction by the Canadian government could lead to the extinction of several species in Canada. Six years ago, legislation was passed to protect endangered species, but in that time only a species of snail found only in hot springs in Banff has been protected. This [...]

Recently on a trip into town I was amazed at the sheer amount of garbage along the sides of the roads, in ditches, stuck in trees and stuck on fences. This was just the trash I could see zooming past at 90 km/hr, and doesn’t even take into consideration the smaller pieces of trash hiding [...]

A truly sad story to read. A bear, known for its crescent moon shape on its chest is near extinction in Iran and Pakistan and despite protection, little seems to be done to protect it.

Back in 1992, the Rio Earth Summit was being held to deal with climate change. It was created to deal with climate change the same way the Montreal Protocol of 1988 had for ozone layer depletion. The Montreal Protocol was the first time the world came together to solve a global pollution problem and thanks [...]

Today, my wife Layla and I spoke to some kids at a youth center about the environment. We didn’t know how many would show up to ask questions and listen to us but we figured between two and five. We knew that on a nice afternoon the last thing many kids would want to do [...]

The Gray Wolf is recovering in Michigan, so much so that it has been removed from the endangered species list as the numbers rise for this majestic animal. Since the 1980s, the species has steadily climbed back after nearly going extinct. Last year its total was 520, but estimates this year put the Gray Wolf [...]

Often when we hear about extinction, we hear about it in terms of North America, or sometimes elsewhere if it involves a big cuddly animal. However, extinctions are going on everywhere, each day, at a rate not seen since a large asteroid obliterated the dinosaurs.
Such is the case with a mass extinction ripping through Malaysian [...]
